I am off to Austria next month,can we get these Vignettes before we travel or are they freely available at the border.

They can be obtained before you go as there are companies that will supply them but you will pay through the nose. They are available at all motorway service stations as you approach the border and at the border. Look for a red sign with a black dragon/griffin like creature on. You only need one for the car not for the caravan unlike Switzerland where both are required.
