depends how far u are from the hook up, bear in mind u dont usually find 1 hookup per pitch, u normally have one hookup point that serves 2-4 pitches so depending on how big the pitches are depends on length u need
Both mine come with 25m of cable, and it was not long enough to hook up as I was given a non-EHU pitch so that I could use the adjacent pitch for a picnic for one of the days during my stay deliberately.
The site manager lent me a 10m extension cable to enable to hook up. I could have gone home to get my 20m extension cable, however, the 10m one worked fine.
I plan to return to this site in December as it is local to me, and with a 20m extension, they can plonk me on a grass pitch without electric and I should still be able to hook up.
Normally, I would say 20m is sufficient. However, it would be advisable to pay a little bit extra to get a longer one, IMHO.

Iwould have said "25m" until my last trip around Cornwall. I stayed at one place and needed an extension cable to reach the EHU: In fairness, the site lent me a cable at no deposit
Its a 25m we have. Never asked before but do others loosley stagger coil their excess towards where they need it? I know your not supposed to leave it tight coiled up as it gathers heat and can be a fire hazard.

As far as I am aware the majority of recognised and fully protected EHU leads with 3 sockets come with 20 metres of cable although some may well have 25 metres. The only ones I have seen with just 10 metres are the rather dodgy cheapos which may not be properly protected.
20 metres or more does sound a lot of cable (and it's pretty heavy stuff) but when you consider that 2 metres or more may well remain inside the tent (depending how big the tent is or where you want the mains unit) it soon gets eaten up.
20 metres of cable has been more than enough on all but one of the campsites I have been on and that campsite had two pitches which they used for EHU even though they were more than 20 metres from the supply pillar and they loaned an extension cable free of charge.
I usually run any spare cable backwards and forwards behind the tent where nobody usually walks if the supply pillar is close.
I've modified my EHU cable with an extra line plug and socket close to the triple socket unit. I also bought an addional 10 metre extension cable. This gives me the option to have a 10, 20 or 30 metre cable, depending on circumstances. I haven't needed the 30 metre option yet.
An additional benefit is that I don't have to pull all the cable through the tent's cable access slot because the unit is too big to fit through from the outside.

That is a very good tip...whether I will get round to doing it or not remains to be seen but sounds ideal
