Briefly, I have acquired a Tilley Trojan mk 2 double ring stove. It currently has a black hose attached which is 8mm and dated 1993 so it needs replacing. I want to use it with my 4.5kg Calor bottle, and also a Campingaz bottle (which are both Butane I understand - and I have the correct regulator for each bottle). The stove has a sticker on it stating it is suitable for Gas Butane or Propane and then says Butane 11" W.G. (28mbar) Propane 14" W.G. (37 mbar).

What colour hose do I need - black or orange? As this is 2nd hand I don't want to assume that the black hose is correct, but no one seems to be able to tell me which hose I need, I don't want to put my family at risk with the wrong hose!

Hoping someone can help me.

The orange hose is high (cylinder) pressure, black is regulated gas so either will be fine.

High pressure orange is for high pressure gauges as used for blow torches etc, it should never be used at cylinder pressure.

Some of these older Tilleys worked at bottle pressure. They had a tap that screwd directly to the Camping Gaz cylinders.
