Just returned from a couple of days camping in order to test out our new sleeping bags, Gelert XL Pods (Muscovy). When we first started camping we got a double sleeping bag and hated it so started using a normal duvet and sheets but have got fed up of the amount of room it takes up in trailer and since losing nearly 9 stones I have found that it no longer keeps me warm. Previously I would sleep in my jamas, socks, dressing gown, fleecey jacket with a hot water bottle, winter duvet, sometimes another fleece, mattress topper on airbed and picnic blanket and was freezing but with the new sleeping bag I had to take my socks off, my jama bottoms off and threw the fleece off (didn't bother with hot water bottle) cause I was sooooo warm, it was brilliant. So if anyone else suffers with cold on a night I would highly recommend these sleeping bags (plus point as well is it takes up less room yeah)

Well worth looking for the XL Beyond Muscovy version. They were like rocking horse droppings last year but look to be a bit more available this year.
I have a 5 season Trakker sleeping bag for fishing but take this with me for summer and autumn as it's so comfy and warm (especially with a bedchair cover).

August: Scarborough, High Yedmandale. Not tenting though, using one of their lovely holiday homes!

If possible these are the ones to get rather than the 2 season versions taht are a bit too small for adults. We laid a 2 season normal on an XL and the difference is obvious, 20cm wider and a lot longer. And the 3 season version is toasty warm.

Am never warm enough and am also a fidget!! I have a huge sleeping bag, but still need extra blankets, so thanks for this info - appear to have just ordered the last one of these available anywhere!!!! Hopefully it will be here by midweek when the kids and I are off camping without my hot water bottle hubby!!

Wow - sleeping bag arrived today. It's huge!! Love it, definitely thicker than my current bag, so am looking forward to some warm nights sleep!!! Mind you I will be so tired by the time we go away - am like a big kid getting excited about going I can't sleep! Been camping for years, but this will be the first proper camp in our combi camp, haven't pitched it all properly yet and I will be doing it on my own! Can't wait.
trouble is they are so small .The whole sleeping bag advertising thing is a joke !
The term "XL" seems to go from 85cm to 100cm .
we were lucky our Gelert one is 110cm which seems large compared to the rest .there's one thing i hate and that a bag that turns over when you do.
Double ones seem of poorer quality in the same price range even that some are only slightly wider!
The pod even at "XL" is no wider than our bog standard 3 season sleeping bag from the same company so pointless upgrading to it.
the lady who lies on it must be a blooming midget
I've got an XL Beyond Muscovy bag, and absolutely love it. It's big enough to fit me sleeping on my side with legs everywhere (and I'm not a narrow person. Short, but not narrow), and also a 4yo fidget child on occasion.
Are the standard 2 season XL bags the same size as the Muscovy XL? My OH wants one now he's seen mine, but he doesn't need the same level of insulation as me.
Just back from a few days testing the muscovy xl pod - FAB! In fact I was too hot!!! Loads of room to wriggle around. Must admit it's shorter than I would have thought for the width it is, my other xl bag, at 110cm wide is soooo long, so much prefer this one. OK is bulky, but I won't need to take several extra blankets like I usually do!!!

Thanks for posting about this Dianne!!!
glad you're happy with it Angela, I still love mine so much better than all the bedding we were taking, hubby sleeps with it unzipped as it's too warm for him
