We've got a Cadac (we bought it after seeing Nuttyboy's - NIgel and Rachel's at Newlands - where are they????) It is brill for us but we are 6 minimum plus extras. But I have never seen more appetising camp-grub emerge than from Cas54's Cobb.......but then I reckon Cas could do a Delia over a candle!!!!!
Sorry don't consider cadac or beauclare to be barbies they are great big grill cookers which are very good for that if you want barbie food then the cobb sounds good from all reports i have not used one do wonder if having a moat in it you get barbiequed/steamed food me i prefer the small half barrel type dirt cheap cooks well and can have one half or both halfs to cook on then use to keep warm (incomingduck ouch!)
Not burnt owt on my Cadac yet either, it has a CONTROL knob on the burner nozzle....works for me
Oh, and what's the recommended cool down time fer a Cobb these days before it's safe to pack away without melting its way through yer caravan? 12 hours? 24?
When finished cooking ....... you can take the heat beads out soak in water ..... and wash bbq out and pack away ........... it's only the bowl and cooking plate that get's hot ....... the black outside stays cold ........ so you can pick it up and carry around if you so wish
We have used on beach ........ taken beads out ......... poured half a cup of water in the chamber ..... let cooking plate cool while eating ... put in black sack to take home to wash ... no probs
once beads are soaked .... take out ... let dry and re-use them
