After much deliberation over whether to get an airbed, camp bed or SIM we eventually bought 2 Thermarest Dreamtime XLs from here http://www.theoutdoorshop.com/showPart.asp?part=PN70323 for £130 each.
Used them on a recent 4 night camping trip and they are great, thoroughly recommend them
They are really comfortable, sort of firm-ish but quite giving as well, the memory foam really helps on my hips as I tend to sleep on my side. We strapped them both together with the straps and poppers that are on the side of each Dreamtime and then put a Kingsize cotton sheet over the lot. Worked a treat and we had a huge bed! Great for when our 1 year old crawls in between us at night and also pretty robust when the older boys were bouncing around in the morning.
The pack size is pretty big but probably no worse that a lot of camp beds. I was also toasty warm, much better than on our old, cheap airbed.
If anyone is considering these and happy to shell out the upfront cost then I'd highly recommend them.

Hi e-claire.
We got two DT XL's back in 2008, and have used them for our fortnight campings in the South of France during July 2009 and 2010.
They are for sure the muts nuts, despite the cost, we added a bespoke made fitted top cotton sheet, and just use a Queensize cotton sheet for on top of us.
For extra warmth if needed, we also have a Netto £6 KingSize 5 Tog Duvet, c/w cotton cover, although have only used the Duvet in anger the once.
Like you say great kit, and I would describe the DT XL as more of a sleep system than a SIM.

Campingcaz, they are rather expensive I know
Francais, your previous comments on the Dreamtimes helped with the decision making, so thanks for that!

Has anyone brought one of these lately?
Or anything similar?
Are they still as good quality as they used to be?
Thinking after a life time of camping, I need a better nights sleep.
Tried fishing beds with sim's last year, but they weren't great for me, I like to sleep on my side or front. Plus they are too big to fit in my car.------------- ~*MZZY*~

Yeah I've looked at those, but after buying so many different types of camping bed, thinking of going right out for the best.
Everybody swears by them and after all I always buy an expensive tent, so thinking I need to do the same with the bed x------------- ~*MZZY*~

I would imagine the new model is just as good, if not better, the actual sim part I believe is of the more modern design.
Our two DT XL’s are still in as new condition, now over 10 years old, we got the carry covers with ours, which has helped keep them in good nick.

Are they easy to get back in the bag?
I have normal sims, they are a struggle!------------- ~*MZZY*~
