here's one for a few pounds and it folds flat as well. Good reviews on this one.
As wongers said, not sure about using cardboard/ By the time you have covered it in something flame resistant (like cooking foil for eg.,) you might as well have bought one.-------------

I agree with wongers...not sure that cardboard is really the best material to use..
..apart from it possibly setting alight, cardboard won't be heavy enough and will get blown over, unless you clip/tie it down..
(..even our "proper" Outwell windshield gets blown over occassionally..)

Hiyas, instead of the cardboard have you thought of using the case the stove comes in turned on its side ( im presuming you have suitcase stoves as that is what you mentioned? ) ...i did this on our last trip ...its better than nothing & in my opinion would be better than cardboard ?? ...im sure there is a photo of some one doing this on 1 of the threads or in thier gallery ...sure someone will know where it is lol.

Cardboard should be fine if it's used sensibly, I don't think many people would position it too close to the flame.

Surely,if you are going to "make" a windshield for a stove(..as we are not just talking about "improvising on site"),you'd start by using something that isn't going to catch alight, now matter how close it was..?
"...should be fine.." and "..if, used sensibly..",wouldn't need to enter into it then.

it was just to be temporary for this weekend,as didnt want to spend anymore b4 the trip
..in that case,I'd be doing as mjdb said and just use open case, stood on it's edge...
(..we've done that before now).
Just don't stand it too close.
(..this is assuming it's a "suitcase" stove )

yes just like useing a wind break if you were silly enough to do so,at only a few inch's away like a windshield is designed to be used.
