When putting our tent down after our summer trip we noticed some small and big holes in the two tent windows on the left side of our 2009 Montana 6. I was thinking of ordering some Tear-Aid clear tape to repair them - however there's 'A' and 'B' options - option B is for vinyl and option A is for everything else I think. I don't know what our windows are made of and I can't find any info about it on their website. Can anyone please advise?
Many thanks
Esther
PS We don't even know for certain what caused the holes, I'm blaming it on a terrific Alpine storm with big hailstones, has anyone else ever experienced similar holes and do you what caused them??
I had the same problem a few years ago and used green house repair tape from the garden centre to fix it. it's still going strong after about 5 seasons.
------------- Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most.
Tenacious Tape would do the job just fine...use a small round patch on both sides of each hole. You'' barely see the mend.
As to what caused it, were your neighbours on that side using a BBQ as a camp fire, by any chance? Sparks can cause a lot of damage if the wind blows them onto a neighbouring tent.
There were neighbours using BBQs but just in the normal way. I don't know whether they were caused by burning, they are clean, round 'C' - shaped cuts in the material. On one of the holes I can see the centre where the material was pierced - it looks a bit a like a smash on a window caused by a small stone - a bit like a wee spider's web - type pattern - if that makes any sense!
My son got a Swiss army knife on his hols - I quizzed him about whether he had have done it but he promises he didn't!
Update: I can confirm the holes were indeed caused by the hailstones, and the force they were coming down with! I know this because I found there was a small viewing panel down near the floor that was holed too, in the same way. I fixed with Tenacious Tape, it's doing the job!
