Have just purchased a new 12Volt TV and have had it blow the 10 Amp fuse for the sockets.

When I first tried to use the TV I'd just towed it (with twin electrics) for 3 hours - and the 85Ah batt was new 2 weeks ago. To begin with the tv worked fine so I turned it off. When I came back to it later (evening time) the DVD I put in would play but there was no volume. I gave up trying to get volume after 10 mins and turned it off- onto standby. Not long after that it blew the 10 amp fuse (tv rated at 2.7amps).

Since arriving home I've tried the tv on 3 pin electrics and it's fine, I also tried it on my car 12v lighter socket where it worked again.

Q. What's going on? Low supply voltage I take it? But why does the fuse blow?

The time I tried to run a DVD and the volume wasn't working I think there were 3 internal 12volt lights running so not a massive load?

After I (wrongly) assumed that the TV was faulty I had a couple of days after that with full power from the battery(with no further charging) for all other appliances.

If it's new take it back and get a replacement, no point messing about, and you will invalidate any warranty if you tinker.

As I've told my psychiatrist, you can't have too many tents.
