Morning everyone, I know the subject of tent poles has been covered in some depth and Valk's 7 point guide on how to replace them was very helpful. Basically I have done the replacement repair no problem. My only concern is that because it was the end piece and the replacement pole was from gooutdoors, the metal ferrule at the end is slightly shorter than the normal vango end. The pin still goes in covering over half of the pin but not all the way like it does with the vango pole ends. Hope this makes sense to someone? I phoned up gooutdoors for advice and to see if they have one with a longer ferrule, but they said it "should" be fine and to just errect the tent and make sure it doesn't slip out. Does anyone have any experience of this, will it be okay? I'm off camping with my son early tomorrow morning and won't have time to put the tent up before then, but like I said more than half of the pin is covered when put into the end of the pole and I have cut replacement pole to the right length.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It'll be fine as you describe that more than half of the pin is inside. It shouldn't be a problem.

What about sliding another longer piece of tube in side it, then fitting the pin inside that. If not I'm sure it will be ok any way. ( easy for me, I always have stocks of tube for various projects)

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
