Any advice please on sun canopys I quite like the ones that fix into the awning rails do they fit in there permanently what I mean is can they stay in situ while on the move.Any info will be appreciated .
I've had a real problem with a sun canopy! It was fine until it rained, and then it collected water like it was made for it. I'm absolutely sure that it was pitched correctly, but rain made it almost useless. I saw other people with the same problem, and I am now looking for an alternative. I don't want an awning, as I am quite fed up with pitching, and new bigger van would need a much heavier one. Any ideas, folks?
I`ve read a tip somewhere recently (probably on ukcs !!!!) that try & pitch your canopy with one front leg slightly shorter than the other(s) to give any rain/dew a downward direction to run off therefore not allowing it anywhere to gather.

------------- no matter where you go.........there you are
We've had a canopy ( Fiamma Caravanstore ) for years now, it's been excellent for a weekend rather than putting up a full awning. As someone said, if it's wet just make one leg an inch shorter and the water runs straight off. It only takes about a minute to put up and 2mins to put away, the whole thing slides into the awning rail and can be held there permanently by plugs that lock into the rail, they are designed to stay there if you so wish but I always travel with ours on the caravan floor.
Derek, to answer your question about leaving the canopy in place. If its the one you slide into the awning rail then no you can't leave it in place when moving the van. If its one of the type which is more like a roller blind attacehed to the side of the van (nout using the awning rail) then yes you can leave it in place.
