Reading the Radio Times (15 Jan, York/NE page 40) there is an advert through RT Direct reader offer. Its a Forever Flashlight! "This extraordinary torch needs no batteries. Just shake it for one minute and you'll get up to 3 hours of light. Virtually indestructable, waterproof and will withstand extreme weather conditions." 12 inches long with LED beam. Only £21.99!
A bargain? Anyone got one???
Queeny :-)

I`ve never heard of them before, sounds good though, the sort of thing everyone should have in their car or home for an emergency

I have seen these, the principle is simple enough, in the centre is an iron rod which as you shake moves up and down through a coil. This generates current which is then used to trickle charge a recheable battery or a capacitor. The claim that 1 min shaking delivers enough charge for a 3 hour burn is probably wrong, all the ads over the net say 30 secs shaking gives 3 mins. I have seen the beam too, not very bright, not something I would give valuable pack room too.

we got one bought for xmas like above.
handy to have as a small torch not a very bright light, lasts a few minutes but you can just keep shaking.
If you fancy one hunt on internet I know my brother would not have paid anything like that price, I think Ive spotted them at about 6-99 have seen them at service stations sometimes.

try shaking a torch for one minute every 3 hours (if your that lucky), the novelty will soon wear off, especially after sitting in the doctors surgery for 40 minutes waiting to get your tennis elbow looked at. what i can guarantee is that you will sell it quite quickly in the car boot sale at easter. lol------------- The most important things in life are free.

If you want a really good torch, that wont let you down go for the luxeon star LED torches.... = long burn time, clean white light, no bulbs to blow... Maplin have a fair selection.. i collect torches for the sake of it lol this one is a very good buy.
If you can stay with the ultra high output LED's or the newer luxoen star LED's you just can't go wrong... i've tested tons of um...
go read some of the old threads on lighting, or tent lighting etc = lots of posts on lighting
have fun....Delta9.

I've used the shaking torch but why bother and just get some batteries their so cheap.
The light is not very bright and it don't last long, good for a real emergency but I prefer theLED torches these are great.
Has anyone used one of those Fly Zapping Tennis Rackets? How Cool are they?
