On the search for a good nights sleep for two old crocs who are used to the comfort of a waterbed.  Wondering if anyone has a lafuma sunbed (the ones that open flat) and if anyone has tried sleeping on them?  Ideally, we need a soft bed with no real pressure points, and theese looked like they might fit the bill, possibly with some sort of SIM/topper?  Any help really appreciated as there are no stockists anywhere near us.

Thanks.

Have a look at the 'I want the best kip, don't care how much' thread on this Forum ... has several ideas that you could pursue.

I have once tried sleeping a night on a Kampa extravagance recliner chair which is very much like the Lafumas, and came up with the following observations.

1. They are rather cool to sleep on without some kind of thick blanket undernieth you to give the insulation normally found in a mattress.

2. they are not entirely flat even when fully reclined, and still have a dip in the middle making turning over onto ones side almost impossible, and quite uncomfortable even if you do manage it due to the transverse dip in the middle just above hip height.

3. theres no way of keeping any kind of mattress or topper attached to the frame, yet still moveable enough to allow the reclining mechanism to work properly, and if you did mange to do so by sewing on tapes ect then the mattress would not be able to move in line with the rest of the seat when in the upright position (which it needs to be in for easy access to sit down in the first place without having to climb over the chair arms) and would probably tear the covering where the tapes were attached.

Someone posted up some piccies of the fishermans beds on a thread on here a couple of days ago and these do look very much like a better bet for making up a comfortable double bed thats not on the floor, and if you wanted a foam mattress for one of these i would probably go for a firmer grade of foam than memory foam, in order to add more support. Not a cheap option though as im estimating that double chair bed+Foam would not give you much change out of £200.

Thanks very much for the responses. The model I'm looking at is the sunbed, which lies flat and doesn't have arms. Interesting comment that they are quite cold to sleep on, will have another look at the fishermen's beds.

Thanks again.
