Why do some sites/shops say they may match the price but when you enquire they say they can`t. I know it is at their discretion but why offer it if they can`t !!!
I saw this small folding table and wanted to do a price match with this small folding table. They said they can`t match the price at this time even though P&P are exactly the same.
In my honest opinion it seems that it is always better to search for a cheaper price than ask for a price match.
My personal experience is that Go Outdoors is the only one to honour their price match policy. The good thing about them, they will beat the competitor price by an additional 10%, even with competitors discount offers/codes. The only stipulation is that carriage charges (if applicable) have to be taken into consideration.
By the way I have ordered products from the Outdoor Leisure Shop before and everything was fine, they seem a good company to deal with
We got our Cadac from Go Outdoors and the honoured the cheapest price in the net + another 10% off. if we'd have bought it online we would have had to have paid postage too. Go Outdoors pricematched before postage. I thout we had an excellent deal.
I've just joined the go outdoors card system, and saved money. I realise that the prices are not the most competetive, but they did price match my new walking shoes. Their price was over fifty pounds more than an on line site, but they did match it and the extra 10 % discount on top. I think they rely on people not doing price match in the main. My £120 shoes ended up costing under Sixty pounds.
I know they weren't very busy, but the service and advice was first class.
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
I find Gooutdoors very expensive and can buy cheaper almost anywhere, apart from there special offer days/weeks when generally stock is pretty low. I buy quite a lot of outdoor gear and can usually save 25 % - 50% buying elsewhere and not just on special discount days.
As someone has already said they depend on people not shopping around and compairing prices or asking for pricematch and again as someone has also said, why not buy from the cheaper priced store in the first place.
------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
I spotted a campingaz chef cooker on a website for about £40, Go outdoors wanted £50 for the same item, so i contacted them to honour the price guarantee. They honoured it but only for 7 days, which then worked out akward for me as money funds were then getting low. Why could they just not offer the price indefinatly when they know that people can buy the item cheaper. Also, if they want to be the cheapest, why not drop their price to the £40? Because when I am ready to buy, I will just take my 'proof' into go outdoors and ask for the price guarantee again which they should honour, therefore, costing them an additional 10%!
------------- When there's a knock at the door, why do dogs always think its for them?
Fat people are harder to kidnap
I am a bomb technician, if you see me running, try to keep up!
Incidentally, before someone asks, why dont I just buy the item from the online store selling it at £40, I would rather buy from the local Go outdoors store, because I prefer to be take my purchase with me rather than wait for delivery. Plus, I save an extra £4 due to the extra 10% that Go outdoors will beat any price by. £4 is better in my pocket rather than any retailer.

Don't quite understand why you have an issue? Go Outdoors price matched for you and gave you 7 days to use it even if the competitor put up their price the next day. Hopefully you can get the price you want when you are ready to buy. If Go Outdoors have it at the price you want great, if not go elsewhere. You are in control of where you spend your money and on what.
The power of the internet allows us to check prices and availability quickly. As consumers we have never had it so good. More shops are offering price match but as the op stated not all retailers honour it. Price however is not everything and customer service does have a value
I like good customer service, local shops are very important and we should try to keep them in business.
On line shopping for some items is fab, things you don't need to examine or ask questions about however if your purchase is expensive it is about price and the savings can be fairly large amounts of money..... It's good to have choices....... 😄
