We have a Halfords one we bought last year for our first French trip and its fine-some people get a bit snooby about rood boxes and dont like the grey Halfords colour and want the nice shiney black ones-which you cant see when you are driving
Halfords always have deals on-we paid £150 for the box and bars in a half price promotion
We just bought a 510 litre box from ebay at the weekend. It arrived today and it stretches the whole length of our car (Kia Ceed SW estate). It cost us £169 and the quality of build is excellent. The same shop do slightly smaller ones for non estate cars at £149. It might be worth taking a look on ebay.
One thing to consider is the size of your car. Dont buy the biggest you can find if it wont fit your car. Also remember the weight capacity is usually 50Kg, so its only really the lighter things you can carry on a roofbox.
