The heater of choice for me is a cheapo ceramic fan heater from Lidl's, with variable heat output, 2 heat settings, maximum of 2kW, thermostatically controlled, and equipped with an anti-trip function (it stops if it is knocked over).
It is very compact in size, and cost only about 15.00 GBP, bargain IMHO!
It was sufficient to heat my Hypercamp Escala 4 in both the bedroom pod as well as the living area when on full blast over the Easter weekend, when the temperatures dropped to below zero on some nights.
I needed to supplement it with a gas heater in the living area during Feb 12 in the evenings though, as it was colder (-10 deg C on one night), and the dog was hogging the fan heater in the bedroom.

brickiemum that's the same as my Morrison's one :). so I could have saved a quid! lol
Same here. I bought mine from Currys about 3 years ago for £9.99 so you had a bargain there and they are not too noisy.
Mind you I did recently see a rotating ceramic fan heater in use and was amazed at how quiet it was. I think I would probably go for the ceramic one if I needed one now.

I wouldn't leave a fan heater on unattended after an incident at work when the bottom melted on one and set fire to the carpet underneath. We were only alerted as we were hoovering next door and thought the hoover was making a funny smell....
As with all heaters things can go wrong and one can only take precautions and use common sense. Although I have heard of lots of accidents involving gas in tents I have not heard of any electrical accidents although that is not to say there never has been any.
The fan heaters with a cut-out switch on the bottom have to be stood on something firm as the switch is quite sensitive. I use a melamine tea tray but a pan stand or a dinner plate would serve the purpose.
It is not wise to stand any heater directly on the groundsheet or tent carpet and I would advise placing something non-combustible underneath.
