We have two single Kampa airbeds but are finding them difficult to stay on. They are uncomfortable and feel so unstable,is it better to under-inflate them or is it best to inflate as much as possible? We love camping apart from these beds!
We have a double Aerobed and have never experienced the problem you describe with it. I do remember when I used a single airbed though years ago, that I only inflated it enough to get my bottom about an inch off the ground. From memory it seemed to work OK.
Cheers
Bert.
------------- If you think you can, or you think you can't.......you're probably right!
We found under inflating was a lot more stable/comfortable aswell
------------- Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
If you inflate them so they are really firm they are really not comfy also more likely to split when you get on them.we always under inflate them, alot more comfy and you are a lot less likely to roll off,i always sleep when we go camping.the amount of air you require is trial and error.you can always try letting some air out whilst laying down on the bed.
A tip I learned from someone on this forum a few years ago, was to inflate enough to place your hand on the centre of the bed & just be able to feel the ground.
I've always followed this tip (since our first trip when hubby had fully inflated the airbed & we'd had five terrible nights on it), and ours is now as comfy as our bed at home.
Don't forget to put a fleece blanket on top of the airbeds to keep you warm & prevent the condensation wetting your sleeping bags.
