I used to go fishing alot, so as you can imagine everything got damp
So.....I used a click top air tight tub filled with Mc Donalds salt & peppers (other brands are available)
They don't look posh on the table BUT they ARE dry & useable.

When off on my own I use chinneese takeaway containers..One for my sugar..One for tea bags..and One for salt x pepper..And one for vinegar..Sauce..and Mustard etc...

A few grains of rice in with your salt should soak up any moisture.

I get the cheapo rocksalt and black pepper in the grinders (£1 each) from poundstretchers....

I have similar versions from Aldi's.
Lidl's have covers for their grinders too.
Only a bit over a quid each, bargain!

We used chef n mini grinders in the tent had no problems with them still use them in the caravan
