Could you not just achieve the same results by using a gridddle plate on top of an "ordinary" 30quid gas stove?
..Argos have one ("cookworks" item) and loads about on ebay...

We've had a "basic" griddle plate for a few years now and it works pretty well, although it can tend to slide about on the stove a bit....
What would be handy for doing "breakfasts",would be one that was both smooth and ribbed one the same side..so you could do bacon/sausage one end and eggs, toms, mushrooms the other..
(..I have tried to post a link to the Argos one but for some reason it keeps failing..)

23kgs - it's a bit hefty. Looks good though.
We have a cast iron griddle plate that we use on our table top gas bbq. Probably weighs and costs abot the same but we can turn the plate over and used the ridged side or take it off and use the bbq as intended so it's a bit more flexible.

MiaC that is exactly the same one that i have been toying about getting for the last few months.I'm still undecided if i should just get a iron griddle to put on our gas bbq or stove or get this. so please tell, did you go have a look at it? what did you think, did you buy one? is the cooking area iron or just coated metal?

Hi Debi,
Sorry i thought id replied on this post! Yes i went and had a look, it was great - very good value. But in the end i bought the larger 4 burner one as there is usually 5 or 6 of us. The 2 burner would would do 4 people easily but im a bit of a feeder so got the bigger one.
hope that helps :)
