Hi Guys,

I just bought a 2 ring electric hob from B&M the box says 1 ring is 1500w other 1000w.  Im hopeless at maths / conversions and this is causing arguements at home.  My question is will this run on a 10amp EHU?  After some length of time trying to convert am I right in saying this wont work its to powerful.  Husband disagrees!

If any fellow members could help with this it would be appreciated, if by any chance I am wrong I also bought one of the Lidl electric cool boxes would they both work together?

many thanks

If you are  camping in the UK the voltage is usually 240v in mainland europe it is normally 230v, at 240 v it will draw app 11.4 amps at 230 10.9amps.

A 10 amp MCB will carry considerably more than 10 amps for a long time, provided you don't have any other high wattage appliances on at the same time you shouldn't have any problem.

If you have a hookup fitted with a 10amp MCB try it at home you may be surprised how much it will carry before it trips.

Tent EHUs are fitted with a circuit breaker (MCB), normally rated at 10 amp. Is yours a proprietary make? If so it is probably 10 amp. It should say on it.

In theory, if you try to draw more than 10 amps the circuit breaker will trip before the site EHU post trips.

Some sites have 16 amp EHU, some 10 amp, some only 6amp.

I have the crusader EHU,

the stats say the following:

A superb quality, deluxe 3 gang 13A mobile mains unit for full electrical protection in awnings, trailer tents or tents.

The unit has a 10 Amp double pole MCB and 25 Amp RCD protection, and comes complete with a 20 metre cable extension fitted with a blue 240v site plug, and pole fitting clips. This electrical hook up won't let you down.

So to get this right i should try my cooker on this unit for a length of time and see if it trips out another silly question how will I know? cooker just stops working? lol

The MCB will trip when it's overloaded also the indicator light on the cooker will go out, assuming there is one.
