Hi All,
Aldi cheap n cheerful satellite kit is in from Sunday.
I already have a larger dish but as this kit is HD it seems worth buying just for the receiver.

I don't want to put anyone off but the last time Aldi were selling these I was in the queue behind a bloke who was returning his as it kept losing the channels. obviously he's been unlucky but I thought it was worth mentioning to remind folks to check them out at home before they go.

I'm not at all tech minded so when the advert says "Requires external USB device, sold separately" what is this and why do you need it?
Why can't you just mount it, connect it to the tv and away you go?

The external USB device merely refers to a flash drive / external memory to record/ pause TV.
To get HD channels in HD you would connect to a HD ready TV via the HDMI cable supplied.
If your TV is not HD ready then there is probably an adaptor to scart or composite (red white & yellow) inlets.
Reception would be fine in most of UK but I suspect you would need to invest in a larger dish of travel to Europe.

We bought one of these but took it back as we do a lot of camping in more remote, hilly locations (i.e. in the highlands and places where digital signals and mobile receptions are poor) as the output wasn't strong enough. We got a portable system , with dish receiver and finder in of all places B&Q with a stronger signal. downside is it's not so compact but was cheaper than Aldi, either £29.99 OR £39.99 but if you camp in or around cities or towns that aren't surrounded by hills the aldi one would be adequate. Just check the output you need
