We camp with an electric cool box which some times when loaded starts to freeze the contents
Anyone know why and how to avoid this ?
Any info would b greatly appreciated
Thank you.
These cool the inside down by 10 -15 deg C below the ambient air temperature.
Therefore, if the temperature inside the tent drops down to 15 deg C or below, you might start to freeze the contents of your coolbox. The more you load the box up, the closer the contents get to the chilled air outlet, thus increasing the chances of freezing.
Just turning it off overnight should do the trick. Some people put insulation in (bubblewrap?) before they do this.
we put ours on a timer, as were having the same problem, so that its constant throughout the day/night. It does say in our instructions not to put on continually. Ours is on for an hour then off for an hour.

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Turned it off last night and it was fine, only thing we had to do was throw out some chicken fillets as do not know how/if they were frozen defrosted then poss refrozen, was not taking any chances !!!!! Will turn off again tonight and will do so from now on, thanks for the help !

you can buy gardening thermometers that keep a note of the warmest and coldest temperature so I don't see why you couldn't put one of them in the cool box overnight to put your mind at rest.
or put some ice cubes in a tray and see if they melt overnight. no peeking though as that would let warm air in? ( home based test of course)
