Sorry to be a Pedant but they were designed in SA but are mfg'd in the PRC. However the quality of MFG is excellent. As a newbie to CADAC cooking and having only tried it once (using the BBQ pierced platter on top of the deflector) did have trouble getting the temp setting right. I concur with others when they say get the CADAC heated up first. Must say their WEB site isn't very helpful for FAQ's. As an aside those two "Platters) were very difficult to clean
after putting meat straight on pierced platter.

I have always been a fan of the eazichef but the let down with them is the ability to see the flame. Makes it very hard to adjust it's seems to be either high or out.
