I'm looking for ideas here. One of the sleeping cofigurations I use is - HiGear steel framed camp bed with sim on top. It's very comfy and with the right bag, I can use it all year round.

My problem is that because it (and I) are so heavy, the 6 feet (round) tend to sink over time causing undue stress on the groundsheet. Has anyone else come across this and if you have, how do you overcome the problem of protecting the groundsheet?

My solution is to use 6 small squares of old carpet tile but there must be a more elegant solution?

Apparently the plastic lids for Pringles work wonders as groundsheet protector for camp beds.

I have not used them myself, as the feet on my camp bed are quite wide and do not appear to cause any issues.

However, I have started to collect Pringle lids just in case I need them.

When i used campbeds, i cut 2x 6"wide strips of 6mm ply slightly longer than the distance between the feet that spread the load over a wide area and the ply strips took up hardly any storage room

You can but packs of can lids for covering pet food cans etc very cheap now too if you dont wanna get fat gorging on all those pringles.

Somehow I believe a few cans of Pringles would work a treat for the OP when he shares a fire and a few beers with his camping buddies.

I do like the idea of 2 strips of ply, maybe instead of plywood, perhaps rubber.
