I purchased the Campingaz Camping Chef with Grill item, and Amazon suggested that the Campingaz Type 794, 29mbar Regulator tap and CV470 Butane/Propane cylinder was the necessary bits to get with it to get it running. However, I've got it all here and it doesn't seem like the Regulator hooks up with the cylinder. Have I bought the wrong item(s)? Do I need to get a different cylinder/tap? I have never hooked up this kind of thing before so please advise!
You have the correct regulator for your type of stove to run off Campingaz refillable cylinders - R 901, 904 or the largest (and kg for kg) most economical 907.
It would be cheaper still to run it from Calor butane or propane (with different regulators) but whichever gas you choose there will be a quite high "deposit" charge (rental agreement in the case of Calor) on your first cylinder, unless you can source one other than from a regular retail outlet.
Keep the CV470 (valved cartridge, disposable) and get an Easy Clic
burner which clips onto the top of it - useful as a backup!
the CV470 cylinder is no good to you with that stove and regulator
as suggested above you need a campingaz 904 or a campingaz 907now for the shock
go outdoors sell the cylinder only for one off payment of £30.00 plus you ay around £20.00 for the gas so the first time you buy you are looking at near £50.00 then you just pay for the refill
at go outdoors the campingaz 904 is more expensive than the larger 907 and will cost £42.30 plus the cost of the gas which makes it dearer
if you can get any campingaz clynder from a recycling centre freecycle or e bay it may be a cheaper option
also look at a calor bottle if you can get any size calor bottle you swap it for a calor 4,5kg bottle and get a regulator that fits this may be a cheaper option than the campingaz one
try the tip the recycling centre the local scrap yards and all the free ads as well as e bay and see if you can get a cheap cylinder
I have the same stove and run it on Calor 4.5Kg Butane cylinders. Regulator was around £5 from local hardware store. Usually pay around £15.99 for refill, but a cylinder will last me an entire season (around 30 camping days per year). Which I feel is good value.
4.5Kg cylinder is a little bulkier to transport (takes up little room in trailer).
Calor seems to be widely available in the UK at most campsites and many garages and service stations too.
Can't remember exactly how much i paid for cylinder originally, think it was around £35.

Great stove the CampinGaz Chef, we run ours on the CampinGaz 907 Cylinder as we only go camping in France, and you can't get Calor over there.
Even though CampinGaz is an expensive Gas, the 907 is a nice compact cylinder, in fact we carry 2 so never run out of Gas.
Like others have mentioned, you should find it easy to locate a cylinder either CampinGaz (Butane regulator required) or Calor (Propane regulator required ?) at your local tip, for next to nowt, then just take it along to a camping shop etc and exchange it for a full cylinder.
