They don't look bad.  Would be handy if you didn't want the hassle of towing the trailer.

We got a thule bike rack - you can strap stuff to it - haven't tried it with a tent yet, but Fiamma do a waterproof soft bag (cargo back) which looks as though it would fit.
Also, Thule do a 420litre add-on plastic box for the bike carrier Thule

Overall, dearer than the bak-rack, but possibly more flexible ?

Thanks - i believe Thule are bringing out similar piece of kit as Bak Rak to fit onto tow bar

I like the idea of the bak rak - reduces drag over roof top box (which can be noisy - had one on my land rover and couldnt hear the radio!) and dont want to tow a trailer. Just seems an awful lot of a load just fitting onto the ball of the tow bar

Was a thread posted on
here a while ago about a similar concept.

The products are obviously designed to fit on a tow bar so if you stick to the max. load that the products are designed for you should have no problems.

Went to Halfords to look at trailers yesterday. This could be ideal for what I want but would need a large 'box' to put on it for all my camping stuff...ideal for tent and toilet though...got me thinking ;)

Don't think this would be a problem providing you kept within the vehicle manufacturers towball limit - remember to include the weight of the carrier itself in your calculations.
