We've just got a leccy hook up for the tent and we were wondering if there is a need for a heater in tents..........I think just maybe for last thing at night/first thing in the morning and to maybe extend the season a bit for us??.
Which type of heaters are suitable/safe for tents??.
hi claire i use a small blow heater that i got from argos for about £10 it does the job great makes the tent nice and cosy as for safety unless your tent is leaking i dont see any probs, and yes i probably will extent your season.
We have a Halogen Heater that we got from Towsure for a tenna. It is brilliant and really takes the chill off at night and first thing in the morning. To be honest I wouldn't be without it - can't stand to be cold !!
I think a halogen heater is fine and will definitely do the job but in the confines of admitedly the biggest of the colman bispaces, I would still go for a smaller fan heater with a thermostat, it will keepyou warm and will help a little with the condensation that these types of tents invariably get - especially on the see through cap.
I've just bought a halogen heater ( 400w / 800w ) from poundstretcher for £7 - a bargain.
It's got two heat settings, and has got a tilt device, which basically turns itself off if hit over. The reason I went for tthis heater is after reading all the other posts on here, but I must say I have not used it in the tent, yet !
We've got a small heater with a thermostat so that we don't cook. It's brill and even though the more hardcore (Stu!!) would go without, I'm still a beleiver in keeping the home fires burning.....that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!
We so far have used a little gas radiant heater - but not really enough in our albeit small frame tent, so considering something else. Had thought about the Coleman Black-cat, or a gas twin element radiant heater, but starting to think about EHU and a small fan heater. Question - are ordinary domestic ones OK to use on site hook-ups? Or do they typically draw too much current? Do you need the special low current appliances some camping outlets sell? Wouldn't want to risk tripping out everyone around me in the night! We'd be thinking about a cheap 2 kw one. (Only other thing we'd use EHU for is to recharge the 12v powerbank to run the cooler from - no intention to use electric kettle/toaster/stove/blanket/TV/lights/fridge). Not sure what current you can draw from a site hook-up.

Don't you find it melts the groundsheet? And where do you keep the supply of logs?
