just been camping with a couple who have one, and seemed perfect for us. we had to pack up in the rain, so as well as kitchen duties, we thought it may be useful for storing all the kit in the rain while we take down the tent, then sort that out last (good old british summer :-)
they couldnt remember wherre they bought it from, so just wondered if any of you use them and if theres any good offers anywhere? had a quick google and a lot of them seem to be 'toilet tent' size, we'd be wanting one a bit bigger that that, to fit a cadac and maybe a unit in there with room for standing too.
oh, and do camp sites ever charge you for them? i know some charge for pup tents, but do they also charge for extras like utility tents?
I use one of these as a kitchen tent - cheap and effective
I've never been charged on site, but sites will vary with their policy about outhouses/toilet tents.
Argos have a changing/utility tent reduced to £13.49. Don`t know if that`s what your after, but if it is be quick because I think they are trying to sell them off. Go to Argos web site and type in changing tent.
We bought our utility tent from argos last year in the sale, its a lot bigger than the changing/utility tent they have at the moment, we wouldnt be without ours even though we have a big tent with a porch - its so nice keeping all the cooking stuff and food in one place, we didnt bother taking it on our last weekend trip and we were in and out of the tent all the time to get bits out and put them away. The sites we go on dont normally charge.

yep, thanks for the info, those argos ones are too small really. im looking for something around 2m squared. cant see one of those on argos.
thanks
That's why I got the Outhouse that I mentioned above - plenty of room to store things, including my bike
We have this one and it's perfect for us. Strangely all the pictures show the windows higher than they really are - you can actually sneck out of them when you are sitting down! We paid £60 for ours last autumn.
We have the Outdoor Revolution Outhouse and it works very well for us, plenty of room for our kitchen stand and storage and still room to stand in while cooking, especially if the elements are not very good.
We have a Khyam utility tent 2m square and got it 'new and unused' from Ebay.
It cost £30 inc delivery which I thought was very good, and I wouldn't be without it now, for all the reasons mentioned above.
The front and back open up so it can be used on sunny days but also the back has a window and ventilation for when it is raining (pretty much all the time then!!! LOL)
I actually really like being inside, on my own, reading my Kindle whilst waiting for the kettle first thing in the morning.
If I were you I would keep an eye on Ebay, if you can wait.
We use a Wynnster utility tent, 3m x 3m and the perfect size for kitchen with still enough room to sit and eat. paid £64.99 for it from Somerset Camping.

I also use a quechua base seconds pop up tent, its 2.25 metres x 2.25 metres in size. I put all my kitchen gear in it, also use it to put the clothes horse for drying towels, rubbish bin, laundry bag, the bikes etc. Having the junk there ensures that the main tent looks really nice and tidy. Its great to have, however I do feel a bit embarrassed that in addition to a big tent I now also sprawl out with a utility tent, trailer, car, etc.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
