Yes i was talking about a normal table top fridge, i was just worried about how long it takes for the gas to settle.
Thank you for replying

How long does it take for all the gasses to settle and the fridge cool enough to use ?
Never had to wait at all ... just 'plug and play' Usually cold within half an hour. I'm assuming this question was directed at normal compressor fridges?
An extra 40 quid over the Curry's one - but it's a 3-way fridge that works well on gas.
Despite the picture, the fridge is dark grey with a silver top. It also has a gas temperature indicator (the green band & needle type) , and (most important) works well in very hot weather.
It seems well made (every bit as good as Dometic - probably made by teh same Chinese factory -;) ) and is surprising roomy. It was over 30 degrees at Lincoln steam fair last Sunday, and cans of Coke were nicely chilled within 30 minutes of putting them on top of the evaporator.
I can honestly say that it compares favourably with any caravan/motor-caravan fridge we've used over the years - I was a bit sceptical at first, but I was pleased to be wrong.
No connection with the seller - but it's where we bought ours, and delivery was next day.
Only fair to add that, if you always have a 240 volt supply available, then the Currys compressor fridge is probably the way to go - a compressor unit will always outperform an absorption fridge.
However, we *very* rarely use a hookup (in fact, most of the sites we use don't even have 'em) so, for us, the ability to run on gas was paramount.
Good hunting ;)
------------- Getting Old, Staying Active (much to Mrs Folder's dismay..)
We have a coleman 3 way fridge which we inherited from my parents.
It has lasted about 15 years so far. It may not be as "pretty" as it one once but always keeps our food cold.
We run it though the cigarette lighter in the car, gas on site and occasionally use it as an extra fridge at home on electric, all ways work equally well.
Coleman still make the same fridge and I personally would recommend it.
We have the advantage, also, of having a car with 3 individual seats in the back row (c4 grand picasso) the fridge fits perfectly in the middle when folded down allowing us access to it when travelling.
We wouldn't be without it.
Fridge gasses and settling....I always wait for the fridge to switch itself off ( when it has reached it correct temperature. ie ..end of its cycle). Exacltly the same at home, when defrosting. I have never had a problem with the gass in the pipework settling. I was told this by a refridgeration guy. He also said...never lie a refridgerator down. as that will take a long time to settle itself.
