I don't know if this is relevant but last year we went with a rally to a commercial site in Wales. We had a camper from hell arrive they were loud, swearing, drunk and a thieves. He invited some thugs around for a party. After a night out we got back we had our fire bucket nicked when I questioned the scum bag he said he had borrowed it to sit on I explained that it is stealing and I could call the police. Their party went on till about 2.00am but it was very very windy during the night and his tent had blown down and they slept in their car. The next morning my awning had several pegs stolen immediately I thought of the scumbag. However once I replaced them and was ready to confront him when he woke up I realised what had happened the wind was making the awning dance up and down. The shock cords at the awning base acted as a slingshot and shot them out of the ground like arrows and found them about 20 feet away. I really couldnt belive it. Mind you it saved me having fisty cuffs.

In 15 years of camping (touch wood) I've never had anything stolen yet. Why on earth anyone would want to steal a few tent pegs is beyond me, they are cheap enough to buy for heavens sake. I can fully understand your annoyance, I think I'd be miffed too if it happened to me - the monetary value of a few pegs is neither here nor there but it's the principle that counts. Sadly, some people just can't keep their hands to themselves.
On a lighter side though, I do like the idea of the 10,000 volt Delta Belta - now where's Rob??

Add up how much your kit is worth - probably built it up over the years. £300? £500?
Stick it in a field.
Go out for the day.
I'm surprised there isn't more petty theft. I don't think i have ever lost anything. There has only been one or two sites where I haven't felt comfortable about leaving my stuff, but I am thinking of UV marking some of it.
