As a newbie to caravanning we have gone away for half term, the weather has been very wet and we have a river flowing thru the awning.
We have a mesh ground sheet and the tent carpet on top, both are saturated ! Any ideas to improve this next time ?
You need to find a pitch with some drop on the ground & no hollows so water can run away. A sheet of plastic under your groundsheet will also help, probably against the 'rules' but who is going to check?
We tend to stick to hard standing pitches with the van and awning as they stand up to heavy rain better. Its a balance between the comfort of grass and the convenience of hard standing.
