Hi, in the middle of camping hence the slow reply. Cost was... Probably just under £100. Had to buy: wood, varnish, hinges, door magnets and handles.

The wings are held on by dowels. Simple but effective. Will post an photo when I'm home.

Back to relaxing now. :)

Absolutely brilliant and I have already told hubby that he can make me one! Luckily he is quite good at such things!

Looks great! I am used to my plastic boxes with lids, but if I fancy a change, I will be revisiting this thread!

I did have a look at the mess box type idea but didn't want the fold down door as always have a table to prepare stuff and as the cooker is quite low it would get in the way - hence the doors which then help to hold the wings up.

Also on the campsite was this homemade kitchen. Dutch guy made up a his own flight box. The gas comes out when travelling and pans / bowls in that hole. The cups / glasses slde out and it has kitchen cabinet feet for levelling. Cant remember what it weighed but it was alot!

What someone needs to make is a folding version for those of us with more stuff than space and where a trailer might not be an option. I would buy one certainly, much nicer than the blue fabric monstrosity that counts as our camp kitchen is. We have a bell tent too and I like to keep things looking natural with wood and canvas
