Hi,This may seem a daft question but I haven't used it before. Do you have to have the gas fire switched on to use the warm blown air system in a caravan?
If you are electric hook up you don't have to have the gas fire on to use the blow air heating on it's own as you can just use it on the 240 mains supply. The problem is that the blow air will initially blow cold so you have to set the switch during the day to get the rear of the fire warm in order to blow warm air out in the evening. You're not a numpty because you're not the first and won't be the last regarding this query and even I am only just getting to understand it after 2 years of having our current caravan. That's why I kept the link at hand because I found it helpful myself and maybe useful to others like yourself. The heating system seems a bit complex but the way I found to understand best is treat it like a storage heater as you collect and store the heat during the day then release it in the evening when required.
Nice one tango55. Good bit in the vid about "it only blows around the air that is in the van" so if your van is cold it blows cold air and once the van is warm you get your warm air. If I remember I think my van's manual suggests not to turn the blower on until the heater has had enough time to heat up.
