Hi,
A discussion in the pub tonight concluded that a device to display how many amps you were using would be handy - does anyone know if such a product exists?

Thanks,
Kev

Something like this?

Ammeter?
It has an alarm, but not sure, without owning one, how you set the alarm point. If wired into the main control panel, on the EHU inlet, will tell you what your combined power usage is.
Would be ideal if someone could make one tied in with a reverse polarity switch!

Switch

Wire the polarity switch in first from the EHU, then the ammeter, then onto the main control panel.

i use a current monitor at home (sometimes! after the initial couple of weeks i just lost interest, you soon get to know which appliances consume the most power and its not exactly rocket science to work that out without a monitor ) i have a 4kw solar panel array on the roof and aswell as the monitor telling me how much i am producing at any time i also check now and again on how much i am using, plenty of current monitors on ebay though i think they only work on ac if you are hooked up and not dc if youre on battery power, but someone else WILL know better! there may also be some difficulty for most in making sure the clamps are connected to the right cable but i reckon it could be done if you really wanted

PS you can sometimes get a FREE current monitor from your electricity provider!

PPS kev, youre not trying to sell them are you - thats a strange signature for a forum user?

Lol! No I'm not trying to sell them.

My reason for starting the topic was - as I said -  following a pub discussion with me mates we agreed that one might be useful - for us anyway.

Our reasoning being we visit quite a few campsites with our tents and always use the site EHU.

But as you know the supply can be 6, 10 or 16 amp. and we thought it would be handy to know just what was available/used so as not to trip the re-set - which on some sites requires alerting the site management and can take time to re-set.

I know in some Vans and RV's there is  a device fitted - but I've not seen anything for tents.

Does anyone know any different......

Kev
