Which heaters are generally considered best for camping, and do you tend to use them just in the bedrooms or in the 'living area' too?
I've never bothered with any before as I have only ever gone when it is lovely and hot... but I would like to give us a bit more opportunity this year so thought a heater might be a good additional buy!
It is a 2kw heater but I have only ever used it on the 1kw setting. It has variable heat, thermostat control, safety cut out and cool air function.
I usually place the heater in the living area with the bedroom pod doors open to allow air to circulate.
At the beginning and end of the season, we tend to set the heat setting to about 1/2 and then leave it to click on and off all night as the temperature fluctuates. We find this is more than enough to keep our 8 berth Khyam Ontario cosy and warm.
I too use a small oscillating fan heater with a maximum output of 2kW.
It has a ceramic heating element, high/low heat output and variable temperature setting, plus an anti-trip mechanism.
A nice little heater that I picked up from Lidl's about 2 years ago for about 15 GBP.
When in the tent, I would normally open up the inner tent so that the dog can sleep in his bed, and I would set the heater to oscillate just outside the inner tent.
I seldom needed to use the maximum heat output except when I camped in deep winter.
When sleeping in the inner tent with the zip done up, I would normally use the low heat setting with the temperature set towards the low side, and let it tick over throughout the night if required. I would only set it on the higher temperature on the low power output when camping in winter.

I can't remember using the fan-only option on my heater last year at all. Weather wise it was pants last year.

We picked up a nice wee fan heater/oscillating base thingy thats very good. I picked it up from Poundstretchers/instores shop in berwick, but have also seen them in Glasgow as well. They are made by Hyundai and with a RRP £19.99 they are always cheaper instore as we got ours for £9.99. It helped with the softening of my wife and now she is looking at places for camping as a family instead of just me and the boys....Result :)
we take the half sized oil filled radiator, we went march last year and had a ground frost in the morning, i woke up in just my shorts and lying on top of the sleeping bags :D
we find it difficult to keep living area warm tho :(
