read the whole thread guys all the info is there but yes thats the lamps I've just got & the outwell 400 lumens is better if u can afford it but general consensus says the ones I got are fine. I got 2 for £35 and the outwells are £55 each but a little brighter maybe?
hope that helps :)

They're a little brighter if you compare one lamp for 55 quid against one lamp for at the cheapest, 15 quid.

But when you can get two of the 300 lumen lamps for less than one of the 400 lumen ones you have effectively more light for less money and you still have four lighting options:

one on low
two on low
one on low one on high
both on high

To me, it's a no brainer, two of the 300 lumen lamps for less money. But money is also a consideration. And some people aren't bothered about the cheapest, they just want something they are sure will be suitable.

If budget is a consideration, two of the cheaper. If you are lucky enough to not be worried about budget, get one or two of the 55 quid ones.

I put it on in our kitchen late last night then walked around downstairs like summit from scooby doo lol.

I ordered x 2 and they arrived today. I'm surprised at how compact they are, which is a good thing for us as packing space is at a premium.

Thanks to sand_danser for starting the thread.

Keep an eye on "The Outdoor Mega Store" at Liverpool, last year they put the Outwell 400LX on at £35 which GoOutdoors price matched less 10% bringing the price to £31.50 each for my two Outwell 400LX lanterns.

Having said that the Kathmandu link I posted, offering there version of the Outwell 400LX for £36 is a good price, although can't be price matched by GoOutdoors.

im confused as to why the outwell takes 6 1.5 d size and the other(cheaper ones) only 3 (must be the dimmer?)
The leds are the same make(Nichia LEDs)each chucking out about 100 lumens per led with the outwell having 4 and the cheaper generic ones only having 3 giving the outwell the extra 100 lumens.

i went with the ring
cyber-lite
i dont need the dimmer or remote i have 2 of these the batt life is as good as it gets. 6 quid for 6 d size from maps and will last all my summer trips.

cheers Lidds0 glad to help :)

They're two completely different lamps madfunkymonkey. The outwell is twice the size and is heavier but should last longer. You get what you pay for though. For me the 2 I got (same as yours under a different name maybe) are spot on!
We camped at the lakes at easter and the lamps were spot on for our 4 night stay. The AA batteries lasted a good 3 nights at around 3-4 hours a session so we're well pleased with them. The lamps gave off just the right amount of light and weren't blinding or too dull and our teenagers are now (matchstick) poker hustlers lol
I think that for the price these are great. Two lamps for less than the price of the outwell one means that if a clumsy kids knocks one over/off n breaks it you've got a spare so won't be stuck and have only lost £20 whereas if you break the outwell one.....

I've got a Vango Halo 300 for camping/fishing trips and the wife & I put it up in the garden a couple of weeks ago to air it & sort stuff out ready for summer and used the Halo on out overnight camping out (and got some well earned peace, lol) We hung the lamp from the centre holder without the cover on & it's simply brilliant! If your wanting a lamp for a tent like this then look no further

I have just purchased the Kathmandu version of the 400 lumen model for £34.99 on their site, when you purchase their 'Summit Club' membership, saving you £15.00 off the listed price. There is no catch as the membership costs you £1, which they refund you immediately in your shopping cart, along with the £15, leaving you to pay £34.99 with free delivery as standard. Awesome!
This is the same model as the Outwell Superior 400LX-R, with a different colour scheme, the same Nichia LEDs and remote control for just about half the price that model is on sale for.
Bargain, much cheapness!
