im looking to buy a small electric heater for my van but was wondering if anyone could tell me what sort of power i should be looking at (at the moment i have a 3000w heater which runs fine running off the house mains but im worried that if i goto a site a heater of this power would trip everything out
will depend on the site 16amp=3680 watts 10 amps=2300watts
and 6 amps= 1360.a fan heater with two settings the max being 2000watts will work well.or a convector heater with fan boost is even better,as you can run them without the fan.so are silent for night time use.
Generally, I find the low wattage (typically 750 / 1500w) fan heaters more than adequate to warm 'van and keeps the amps down. Also, I find them quieter that the general 1000 / 2000w models.
I used to use a Delhongi Bambino Oil filled, 800W IIRC, warmed the van absolutely fine, usually on number 4,
I went for a smaller oil filled for a few reasons.
They are small and compact compared to higher wattage units,
they are silent, unlike fan heaters, so I can use it at night,
they regulate heat better than convector/fan heaters, room temps tend to dip quite alot with these before they thermostat kicks in.
