We bought a double and a single of these last year. They were exceptionally comfortable and large too - there was plenty of room. They did go down a little every few nights but we just pumped them up again. http://www.tesco.com/direct/jilong-double-layer-luxury-air-bed-with-pump/509-0009.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=209-5695
I bought towelling fitted sheets to go on them - they clung to the bed beautifully and were nice and soft!! And a bargain! http://www.tonystextiles.co.uk/product/12995/terry-towling-fitted-sheet---white
I've had airbeds for years but then found the delights of folding camping bed and Self Inflating Mattress. It doesn't pack as small as an inflatable but will never deflate on you. Warm in Winter and comfy in Summer.
First OH and then I went for the highly recommended Vango folding camping bed (it comes in normal and XL sizes for taller/bigger people) and we have never looked back. Just a cheap Self Inflating Mattress on top, and it's gloriously comfortable. You can dress the top with a towelling fitted sheet or a fleece blanket and either use a duvet or a sleeping bag, the choice is yours!
------------- My OH is convinced that a permanent raincloud follows my tent where ever it is pitched. Apparently, I could end all drought and famine in Africa simply by pitching my tent there!
We have one of These sat directly on top of one of These all held in place with a slightly adapted (To fit snuggly) fitted cotton sheet.
These are average examples and are absolutely fine. You may find more economical options, and you will certainly find "even better" examples.
The good thing about adding a SIM on top of a camp bed, aswell as upping the comfort level, is that it takes away that annoying "banging elbows on bed frame" situation, that can put folk off a camp bed (only) option. Obviously, a thicker SIM would add even more comfort, as would, I presume, an extra wide bed and/or SIM.
One thing I would recommend though... get your tape measure out, particularly if your bed pod has the "popular" sloping back wall design. Coming up the best part of half a metre from the ground, considerably shortens the length of your bedroom.
Friends of ours went for a pair of, admittedly, very nice XL camp beds.... and now have to leave their bedroom doors open!!
We have campbeds with the rubberised airbeds on top, fleece blanket, sheet and then sleeping bag and another blanket, exceptionally comfy and storage underneath

Outwell posadas double with 2 x 10cm Gelert Adventure XL mats. The two mats fit side by side inside a single duvet cover perfectly to hold them in place.
Have only tested in the house at the moment, but it's looking very comfortable.
We've bought this setup for 2 weeks in france also!
Some serious money on the campbed/SIM malarkey. Makes our £75 aerobed look economical. I can see the benefits, nothing to spring a leak, insulation benefit being off the ground, in turn giving underbed storage, but singles are no good for us, and the bar down the middle of a double ruled that out. However it was padded, my elbow would find it
Extra car and tent space needed too. Very popular though.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it
