Have a fussy 10 yr old who will quite happily eat a Sunday roast every day of the week, doesn't eat camping friendly pan food, curry, pasta etc so have bought a halogen oven in the hope I can do a joint in it, has anyone any suggestions for what to do in the halogen ?

You should have just bought him 1/4s of roast beef, ham etc from butchers or supermarket and put that with his meals instead of roasting a joint!!
I know a lot of people use a slow cooker for roasting chicken and other joints, but not sure what you do with a halogen oven. My sis has one, but she didn't use it for long... although I think these will roast a joint and you can add veg later on to be ready at the same time.
found this link for you which has a few recipes there, you can probably adapt these as you go along once you get used to cooking times, etc.
Anything you would cook in an oven at home my children also prefer oven cooked foods but luckily I bought a halogen oven before we started camping so it hasn't been n issue for use.
The only pan meal I can think of that all my children will eat is sausage, mash & beans! they will all eat boiled veg but not all will eat pasta or 'saucy' meals
I love my halogen oven and cook every thing that I would cook at home I bought the extender ring to move the element up and increase the size of the oven. I use roasting bags for things like chicken, gammon and meat joints put a quartered onion and a few large chunks of carrot and the appropriate jelly stock pot a half a cup of water and you have a great stock for your gravy roasters as you would at home yummy.
