Does anybody take a microwave camping with them, in a tent. If so, do these run OK on a normal EHU.
Or is this classed as "not proper camping" lol.

LOL! I'm a bit like you, Vixen. A few years ago I put an electric toaster in our camper ...... and my kids went ballistic when they saw it! "That's not camping" could be heard all around the campsite!
Mind you, they have had an electric hookup, lights in the tent, gas cookers etc ...... now when I were a lad ................... ;-))
I suppose that there must be a lot to be said for just being different ....... compared to many, my kids have had very good experiences ....... staying in nice hotels and very expensive (friends!) villas ......... but at the end of the day, my kids really appreciate some good old-fashioned camping! No 'luxuries' ....... just something different.
On occasions we have taken their school friends on camping holidays with us ...... and bearing in mind that some of these kids are rather spoilt, have their own horses (in one case a girl had 5 horses of her own!!), I am amazed at how well they fit in and really enjoy a good camping holiday. It's so different to what they ae used to - but it's so natural.
It doesn't come down to gadgets, possessions etc ......... I think it comes down to the comeraderie, teamwork, friendliness, openness and involvement in camping. Getting back to basics is great (IMHO) for developing kids. I hope that my kids pass on those values to their kids and that they all enjoy camping ..... it really can teach youngsters a lot about themselves and help them in their future lives.
On another board I get castigated for the lifestyle I now lead ..... which I accept. But, despite some comments to the contrary, I am at my happiest, sitting outside our camper/tent, having had a good BBQ and a few glasses, watching my kids enjoy themselves without TV's, headphones and all the other modern paraphenalia .................. it's a real eye-opener! ENJOY - camping is great! :-)

Hey you may jest about this but I'm taking my childrens lecky blankets (brand new machine washable ones that are BEAB approved) with us next Friday. It's a bit cold for them....don't want to give them pnuemonia....me and oh have each other to keep warm.

Castigated for going camping? Goodness me.....my kids regard camping as the best holiday out. My son is the envy of his friends...they beg to come with us at weekends.

BEAB approaved they may be, but its very unlikley the BEAB approval intends that the electric blanket is to be used in the damp atmosphere of a tent.
I would suggest that you should not use electric blankets unless the manufacturers say they are safe in that environement, ring them up and ask.
1, campers hardcore
2, too posh for a tent, too poor for a hotel vanners,
3, too rich for either likes too look down from their 1 star hotel balconey and end up with quickstep..
and theres them who bring everything from home to make a home from home in a tent!
everyone to there,s thats what i say if you want to take a microwave camping to make your stay more comfortable you go ahead and do it dont listen to all the so called hardy campers that probably would not last more than a couple of days real camping as they say in fact most probably have never camped outside of a nice tidy camp site with showers ect.
