Hubby and I have been camping a few times but have always took the duvet rather than buying a bag...shock horror I know! We have decided to invest in a double bag but are confused as to what to get as things are listed with seasons/temperatures/gsms?!
We usually take 2 duvets with us and lay one on top of the other and only tend to camp in spring/summer.
I personally like single bags. its awful when one of you wants the loo in night and you're in a double.
Get a good quality bag too its well worth the investment. its a must being warm in a tent. We bought chocolate coloured Camper Lux from Go Outdoors and they're lovely and warm. don't get cheap ones from local supermarket. That's my advice
If you've been comfortable with your duvet, why change?
We used to use two single sleeping bags zipped together to make a double, but I got fed up of struggling to undo the zip in a hurry when I had a night sweat, and the noise of the zip when either of us had to get up for the loo during the night So, we've been taking a duck down duvet for the last few years, and we wouldn't go back to sleeping bags again now - the duvet is so much more convenient, and more pliable so you can tuck it up around your chin, or over your shoulder etc.
I'm with JK98 if your happy with the duvet why change? I have a double sleeping bag which I'm very happy with it's warm but quite bulky. If you get a chance try to look at different sleeping bags first...
We have gone for a Regatta Premium. Main reason for not wanting to stay with the duvet is space - We take a double and king n a tiny car lol! We use ghe same at home too so are trying to just use 1 duvet from now on lol

Any recommendations would be great :-)
Thanks in advance
I would treat the season/ratings/temps etc with caution.
They are a loose guide especially with the cheaper ones claiming they are warmer than they are.
I tend to run cold and bought a well known brand lightweight sleeping bag a year ago rated for 3-4 season and comfort range below freezing for around £90 - £100 and spent the most miserable cold night in 40+ years of hiking/camping.
I went back to Vango as has been my choice for many years and paid about the same, the bag is bulkier and a wee bit heavier but still manageable in my backpack and no problem when car camping but all worth it for a warm good nights sleep.

We have just bought a Vango Aurora Double sleeping bag in Go Outdoors for £80. It is brushed cotton and is 3 seasons. Myself and my partner are on the large size but it has ample room. We haven't slept in it yet but it will be getting its first run at Glastonbury Festival in a couple of weeks. It felt lovely when we tried it for size, so to speak! It has a velcro pocket each side for your phone and money etc. It even comes with matching pillow cases!
Another thumbs up for the vango aurora double sleeping bag. I price matched in go with amazon and got mine for £63! - bargain. Iv slept very well in mine - super cosy!

I got a Vango Wilderness double sleeping bag. The main reason for buying it is that there are zips down each side so no more disturbance than separate sleeping bag zips if someone wants to get up in the night. From my research, when I was looking to buy my sleeping bag, it seemed that most of them do this these days and you can, in fact, unzip them and use them either as two separate blankets or zip them up and use them as two single sleeping bags so very versatile. I haven' had chance to use mine yet, however, I have tested it and it is lovely. It is not too bulky and I managed to get it at a really good price. We are planning on taking a thin quilt or a blanket too so it should be fine.
