Does anyone have one? Are they any good? We bought some Decathlon S10 ultralight sleeping bags but they don't seem warm at all so am thinking of getting the Aldi ones instead.
20% (code) off all tents & sleepingbags at argos at the moment and many on sale, there are many factors that add to the warmth of a sleeping bag ie gsm, dual/triple layers, feather however argos doesn't give all the details of these .
We managed to get a load of cheap sleepingbags when tesco had 75% off so although some are the light weight summer bags we also have 2 of the 300gsm which can be used as a double (currently half price at £7.50) and I would say the temp rating is accurate (which many people complain other companies aren't). when camping below the rated temp we put 1 or 2 of the lighter summer weight bags over and have been fine at sub zero temps. We also have a couple of 400gsm pro action mummy bags and they are really warm.
From looking at your current choice of bag are you looking for something similar ie mummy bag rated better than 7 degrees? argos pro action 300gsm mummy bag (0 degrees comfort rating -10 extreme in Q&A section) is £17.99 so 20% off makes it less than £15
hi, thanks for replying, we are complete novices but as we feel the cold normally I thought a 3 season bag would be best. The Decathlon ones came in 15 degrees or 10 so we went for the lower number, anything less was too expensive. The argos one sounds like a good bet. We are a bit pushed for space in our car so don''t think we can fit extra sleeping bags in.
Just to mention, I would say that after your tent, of course, the sleeping gear is by far the most important kit to get right, and that budget needs to be stretched as far as you can manage.
You can have cheap pots and pans, lights, windbreaks, chairs, tables... the list goes on... but being cold at night, and struggling to sleep, WILL PUT YOU OFF CAMPING!!!
Another thought is what are you sleeping on? if you have an airbed insulating between yourself and the airbed will help even if it's just a fleece top matress cover and will be cheaper than buying new sleeping bags.
It depends really if I was you I would get one from argos or go outdoors.If you where to get some only get one and try it out.Sleeping bags loose the warmth if you don't by good one's.We got halfords one's and now they just fill up space in out trailer because they have just lost the insulation.
