Apologies if in the wrong place.........am a newbie!

Hi there

I am new to this forum so hello everyone....... :)

I've been patiently searching through all 40 pages relating to EHUs looking for an answer but no such luck :(

My question is we are camping in France this year on a site with 6amp EHU. We barely use the EHU as we use gas for most things ie boiling a kettle, cooking & have a gas hob toaster so are quite self sufficient BUT as it will be hot hot hot, we are thinking of taking a small fridge approx 139kw 1.76cuft. Based on some of the info here 1390/240 = 5.79amp. From peoples experience, if this was the only thing running, would this be ok? I'd hate to drag it all the way over there for it to not work. Alternatively, we do have a standard 12v cool box/fridge that we use, only was looking for more 'fridge' space as it's a two week hot holiday :) More than happy to stock the 12v fridge daily of course, only the small fridge would be even more of a bonus!

Can I assume that small things like charging a mobile will be ok too?

Many thanks!

139Kw is that the annual consumption?

UK/EU Mains Voltage Harmonisation states 230v +10% -6%, thereby allowing the European 220v system to stay at 220v and UK to stay at 240v. So you need actual wattage and to calculate using the appropriate voltage or use 230V as the average.

At guess the consumption will be approx 20 watts per hour (and probably a bit less), so current would be approx 0.01A.

On 6amp you can use electrical equipment up to a total of 1380 watts. The average fridge uses about 1amp.

Therefore, the running of your fridge, charging mobile phone would be absolutely fine.

You can download a watts to amps conversion chart here.

Hope it helps.

Griff

The 139kw must be the annual figure, or a very inefficient fridge.
If your. Reading from the energy efficiently label on the front, that figure is the annual figure.

Most quick boil kettles are rated around 3 kw/h.
