Hi all - not exactly equipment but can be quite an expense for a week away at a site that allows fires.

the site we are going to do sell wood but last year it was expensive and very wet!

It's also not a site where you can go collecting dead wood from nearby to bring back as it's all fields with no decent sized wooded areas.

Where do you guys get your wood from or do you just buy it from site?

Cheers,
worto.

edit - there is a local b&q so was thinking of heading there.

Plenty of old fork-lift pallet,s around. Knock the corner blocks off and lay flat in your boot.Costs nothing to ask and most people are glad to see the back of them.

Be careful using pallet wood as it can contain some rather nasty chemicals.

You also need to check with the site that, as they sell wood, you are allowed to take your own - many sites don't allow it

Thanks for the replies - I'll grab some from b&q - just checking I wasn't missing a bargain that everyone knew about apart from me.

I've not got time for pallets as I'm going tomorrow! I may be able to get a couple from work for the next trip though but I'd have to take all the nails out - I wouldn't want the kids (or any body elses) to get a nail in the foot :-o

The sites we goto don't tend to have any rules (or facilities!) - although it's been 2 years since I've been to this one so I may call to check.

Cheers,
worto.
