I have an old Elddis Mistral (I think 1990) and I'm struggling to find an awning that isn't too tall as my awning rail is less than 235. Possibly everything I look at to fit specifically is going to be too expensive - ?
As I've bought everything from ebay or got it second hand from somewhere I wondered if a drive away awning is suitable for a caravan. They seem to be pictured next to motorhomes and most have a shaped tunnel but I'm running out of options. Would this work or is there something specifically for old caravans?
Many thanks for any advice, I bow to your superior knowledge!!
I'm looking for an awning. I have the measurement (793 from memory) but the height is a problem, I think my rail is too low for the newer cheaper versions. On ebay the general guide seems to be a rail of 235 & even if I could fix a new one it would be 2m max.
Have a look at this chart and read further down re Porch Awnings. The only time the height of the rail comes in is for a Porch Awning.
I'm new to this game, but I'm sure others will confirm what I said. My van's under 2.40m high and Ive had no problem finding an awning.
------------- Some days you are the dog,
some days you are the tree.
I have an awning available from my old 13/2 Windrush which was 13 foot long. Let me know if you are interested. May be able to sort a couple of piccies.
I had the same problem with our old Abbey Lancaster. At the NEC show Glossop Caravans said they do get old awnings in stock from time to time, so may be worth contacting them. In the end I got an NR Sardinia porch awning from eBay, either the Sardinia or the Rio should fit it.
I had the same problem with my Fisher Holivan which has an awning rail height of just 220cm.
I bought the Outdoor Revolution Touring XLS drive away awning which fits brilliantly and has the added benefit of having a 2 berth sleeping pod attached.
