I have a weird question for you all...
How many of you use your mobile smart phones, ipads, tablets when camping whilst in bed in the evening using your 3g connection to watch iplayer or catch up TV etc...
I say this as we have just come back from Shanklin in the isle of wight which was fantastic and while we were there my wife was using her iphone to watch catch up tv and bbc iplayer (sad i know but im sure were not the only one)!.
After about an hour of lying flat and holding the iphone up by hand it became a tortuous affair.
I am now developing a reclining headboard with light and device attachment arm to hold 3g devices so we can watch in comfort.
What say you all?
Is it something you would use.. ?
Sounds fab!... something shaped a bit like one of those wooden banana hooks, a flat bit to go under the pillow and then a long curved arm with a pocket, like a car mobile holder, to hold the device, could use in bed at home too!

I like the idea of using the Angle poise lamp base to hold a bracket a bit like a car bracket, that could expand to hold any device. It could even be floor standing, like a floor lamp. I've seen a few like that on Ikeahackers
You do have a point about a headboard though. I am seriously thinking of buying a guestbed from Argos for camping (when i'm solo camping and will have packing room to spare) which is a sprung base, thin mattress and small headboard. The reason why I'm thinking about this is because the headboard will keep my pillows in situ (I always use ordinary pillows from home) and at the moment I'm always waking up to find them as they've fallen off the self inflating mat I currently use.
Any other suggestions to keep the pillow in place gratefully recieved.
We use something called a 'Wonda Wedge' Its a inflatable back rest and makes having a cuppa whilst lying on the airbed in the morning much more comfortable.
But they are surprisingly big so can get in the way during the day, and are too big too leave permenently in place at the head of the airbed. Could be possible if you have a bigger tent than us I suppose.

Thanks for the comments the Wonda Wedge does look big and not adjustable and doesnt solve the issue with holding your devices to watch for over an hour!! - It may also fall off the back of the airbed if it moves while sleeping?
The flappy bit goes under the airbed to anchor it in place so when sitting up it does not move. But its really too big to have in situ all night. Great for tea drinking and reading in bed tho'
Oh my!!! Someone put a thread up the other day about what would be the one luxury you'd want when camping, well I didn't reply to it but thought to myself...'a headboard'!! Seeing as I'm a proper tea belly and the best thing about starting the day is sitting up in bed with a cuppa, I can't do this in the tent.. But seeing this little invention made my heart dance! Lol, time to splash yet more cash, oh the hubby is going to love me!
That looks great! I have a wedge shaped inflatable cushion, which I have had for years. It has a sucker on the back to stick to the car windows as a travel cushion. Last weekend it punctured and I had to get up for my morning cuppa! May have to buy one of these.
One fairly compact way of having a headboard is to use a childs bed guard thingy. Simple tubular metal frame which you can tuck under an airbed or most types of camp bed or mattresses, and you prop your pillows up against it . takes up virtually no space.
We're way past the bedguard stage of life , but think you can get these for about £35 to £40
at quiteconTent - I see where you are going with this... still need to sort the issue of the 3g device so we can sit up and watch corrie and eastenders etc.... :)
In what world do people drink tea in bed? next you'll be talking about eating breakfast in bed! the last time a hot drink was consumed in my be was at night by hubby, apparently horlicks helped him sleep at night. Well the irony was that the cup of Horlicks was left on his bedside cabinet which is very close to the bed so when he went to sit on the bed it knocked the cabinet and he wore the Horlicks causing rather nasty burns to his buttocks
Keeping on track of OP I think I will have to try out the bed guard idea as we sleep head to head in the tent so will stop people crawling up the bed into the headroom of others .
