Be wary of these as the add says they are often ones returned faulty and re-furbished.My son-in-law had one and picture and sound did not stay in sync. Was not a bargain.

I think your son in law must have had a rogue one.

These units are mostly factory refurbished units and usually get very good reports from people who buy them.

If my Humax were to throw in the towel one day, I would be very tempted to get one.

I hope he has now returned it to Humax.

Why buy refurbished kit when you can get perfectly good new equipment for a reasonable price?

Crivvens Vin Blanc a typical Humax will set you back north of £250 quid!

I was quoting your statement (above).David.

I think there's quite a difference between £250 and £129.

I am talking about the difference between a new Humax and  second hand one of course and for he record, I would never buy anything other than a Humax

There may well be £81 pounds difference between 250 and 129 but its only 120 max for a Horizon Nanosat so overall the costs still look similar ;)

I think this thread is just turning into a childish no brainer!

You prefer a cheap receiver and I have no need of a signal finder whatsoever, cheap or expensive, so why don’t we just agree to differ and leave it at that?

I suggest we now leave the OP to make up his mind and simply be kind enough to let us know what equipment he finally decides on.

On a different thread a few days ago on a similar subject I wrote :-

It can be done the way I suggest for £75.

Difficult to argue with you if you cannot even subtract 129 from 250 to get 121 instead of 81 !!!

It also likely that someone with a Humax box at home will take it laden with all it's HD recordings with them in their caravan, so they don't have to buy anew.

Also the OP will not be buying a tripod since he intends to fix the dish to a pole in the place of the jockey wheel.

Personally I think that the site owners might require a jockey wheel in case of fire

Yep I wouldn't like to go without a jockey wheel but you can get U Clamps to fasten a satellite mount to the existing jockey wheel.

The other obvious disadvantage of the jockey wheel mount is that if you are on a pitch where the front of the van doesn't point roughly south then you've had it for dish alignment.

Granted I can't add up - it comes from being kept in captivity these days and not allowed out to play darts!

Are you blaming the complete lack of 5 darts matches for your lack of numerical understanding ?
I would suggest sharp practice in costing in an already owned Humax box,
Also tripods when the OP defined jockey wheel support.
Perhaps you need a lie down !

Good idea Swizz!

I've had a lie down and now I feel much better.

Thanks for the advice.
