I have a friend I introduced to camping last year, but her main bug bear was that on our September camp she was cold in her sleeping bag and it wasn't wide enough for her.
Can anyone recommend a good 3 season extra wide bag please? Have been looking at the Gelert muscovy XL pods and these seem to tick all the boxes, but does anyone have any experience of them?

What were you sleeping on underneath the sleeping bag as if it was an airbed this could be part of the cause.

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
For example if she was sleeping on an airbed, unless she insulates between the airbed and the cold ground she'll never be warm. A foam pad, or even cardboard will do the trick.
Every sleeping bag manufacturer has an XL version of their sleeping bags. I need one myself! I have a Vango Galaxy 350 XL and find it very roomy.
She was on a SIM but only had a cheap bag and is looking to get a decent one for future trips. I have a fab 3 season mummy bag and love being snuggled up whereas she likes more room so just looking for recommendations. Thank you
What I have heard of the Beyond Muscovy has been good, the main issue is the length of the pods..some people say they feel a little short however the XL may not be an issue.
I was put off buying it because I am 6'4" and didn't want to take the risk and largely I bought two of the below for less than one of the pods.
Worth a look is the discontinued Vango Sonno/Dormir Grande, we bought the below they are very comfortable the trade off is the pack size is very large.

We have Gelert pods and love them. I also have a camping mat with a reflective surface which was dirt cheap from tesco, then a sim on top which I think came from Aldi. Its nice and cosy but I'm afraid if I camped in September, I'd need thermal on under my jim jams! I don't do cold.
Agree that what's below is just as important. We use brushed cotton double (or bigger) duvet used as inner layer, open end under pillows, max tog double duvet (taken from the spare bed at home) on top. If toes are cold, I tuck the layers into an unzipped standard sleeping bag laid across the end, like an envelope. Bedsocks, hat & gloves, jim jams etc optional. When there's snow outside, I add a wool blanket (ex charity shop) between the duvet and the inner layer. A warm furry small dog comes in handy too (though ours likes to go in the middle like a hammock, pushing us to the outside).
