I have the chance to buy a Cadac Safari Chef H.P (the one that runs off the gas cartridges rather than the bottle)
Is it possible to use things like the pizza stone or the roasting tray with a HP unit or would I need to get the LP one instead?
Also, how much should I be looking to pay for a used portable Safari Chef?
If I knew about not being able to convert a HP to a LP, and that the HP version does not function well as a BBQ, I would probably bought the LP version instead.
However, since I am not keen to carry a gas bottle in the car, a HP it had to be.
Personally, I believe the HP version should be fine to heat up a pizza stone and a roasting tray, as it heats up the lid for it to function as a wok very effectively.
I would strongly advise to have a can or two spare gas canisters to hand though if the HP version is chosen.

Thanks for that DK.
As I will only be cooking for one I also didn't want the hassle of taking a gas bottle with me.
I have now bought the Safari Chef HP and can't wait fir it to arrive and to get experimenting with meals!
It is a good piece of kit, except for using as a BBQ as I could not get it hot enough.
Good luck with your experiments.

I have the LP one but I have managed to get a campingaz cv adaptor so what I done was I bought a spare nozzle ( the gas hose attachment to the cadac) and then I can change it to and from the high pressure cartage or low regulated from a 4.5kg or 907
So for the long trip away we take the gas bottle ( 4.5kg or 907) and for the beach trip and day outing we take the cv (270/470) gas

Is there a forum that has cadac recipes on? I am desperate to know if you can cook a joint of pork and if I would need a special tray or something?
