We are hoping to go away in a few days - Camping that is. I am planning for us not to have electric but anyway we don't have a heater.

I am hoping that PJ's, sleeping bags with a foam mat under will be enough. If we need more can put blanket over children 1 & 2 and have 3 in with us (usually has a gro-bag so may put him in a baby sleeping bag).

Have hats as a standby and put your underwear and t-shirt in the bottom of your sleeping bag before you get dressed (to warm them up). OR put your sweatshirt in to warm up before adding, coat and waterproof and running out as you really really need a wee.

Electric blankets have revolutionised camping at this time of the year for us.

Went last weekend - went to bed with thin fleece jacket - had to take layers off as too hot. We had footprint, tent footprint, sleeping compartment base, SIM, elec blanket & fitted sheet. Then double Argos sleeping bag opened as a duvet. Admittedly it was much warmer last weekend than other Easters we've been.

We also took an oil radiator - not nearly as effective when sat in the tent early in the morning, but I was happy to leave it on overnight which I wouldn't have done with the halogen heater.

we put the interlocking foam mats under our airbed for insulation..works realy well.Fan heater is a must when its cold.

I picked up the convector heater today, (the one in Bob's link) it is really good - I've got it on at the moment and can feel the heat from 6' away. I was going to buy the Argos fan heater until I saw this one (I think the stupid cat has just singed her whiskars trying to sniff it)

I think we'll also take the oil rad to heat the bedroom area before bed if it's very cold before bed. Hubby was also expecting me to pick up a fan heater, but thinks this one should be okay and was surprised how warm it was for an 800w.

I also bought 2 camp beds and 3 self inflating mats. Tested in the lounge after tea, very comfy. Was difficult not staying right there snuggled up for the night.

* Cotton canvas tent with a zipped in groundsheet
* EHU
* Fan heater
* Camp bed + SIM on top
* All season duvet
* Plenty of layers, including spares just in case they are needed
* Wear a hat to bed
* Liquid fuel stove as butane can be ineffective at low temperature

Sorry but i am a bit confused are these safe enough with kids about here.

Previously when i looked on the forum i always thought the fan heater would be the better option.trying to get my partner to invest in one like this thought be best for young `un but not so sure now.

Plus i want to go camping most of the year(when we get a car,that is :) )and she says it`s too cold so it is a bit of a sticking point.

We use this in the colder months, very efficient heater and warms up very quickly, it is expensive, but worth the money!

Uses less than 7 Amps, leaves plenty amps to plug the wife's all night lecky blanket in.
